A fine violin concentrates more value per gram than almost any other object a person carries daily, and it's made of thin spruce and maple held together by hide glue. The loss scenarios are specific (seam splits, soundpost cracks, a case latch that fails at the wrong moment) and generalist policies handle them badly.
Ramble writes all-risk inland marine coverage, the class of insurance built for exactly this: high-value, portable, fragile property. Theft, accidental damage, fire, water, transit losses, and even mysterious disappearance are covered, subject to policy terms.
A serious bow is an instrument in its own right, and a good case is not cheap. Everything in your kit (violin, bows, case, shoulder rest, the lot) can live on your Ramble collection at its own declared value. If a bow tip snaps or the case is crushed in transit, each piece is insured individually rather than lumped into a vague total.
String players know the hard truth about repairs: a violin with a repaired soundpost crack is worth permanently less than the same violin without one, even when the work is flawless. Ramble's diminished value coverage pays the difference between the instrument's pre-loss value and its post-repair market value, as determined by an independent certified appraiser, so a good repair doesn't quietly cost you thousands at resale.
And while the repair happens, rental reimbursement covers a substitute instrument at up to $2,500 a day (up to $25,000 per occurrence), with no deductible on the reimbursement, so the season doesn't stop for the shop.
Coverage is worldwide and automatic, so your violin is covered in the pit, in the practice room, at the summer festival across an ocean, and on the flight in between, including as checked airline baggage. If you're auditioning across three cities in one week, the policy is the one piece of your kit you don't have to think about.
Photograph your violin and bows, or simply describe them, and Ramble's chat uploader will get your gear cataloged right away. There are no paper applications and no agent callbacks; apply straight from your collection with an immediate quote, from $175 a year.

For illustration only. Amounts above are estimates based on Instruments & Equipment coverage at your selected deductible. Deductible is per claim, not per instrument. Policies start at $175/year; your actual premium and coverage depend on your gear, deductible, and application review.
